Mushroom Research Laboratory – ICAR-IIHR

The Mushroom Research Laboratory, under the Division of Plant Pathology at ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), is a national leader in mushroom science, conservation, spawn production, training, and innovation. With a vision to integrate mushrooms into the Indian diet and economy, the lab plays a vital role in advancing sustainable and eco-friendly mushroom technologies that tackle issues like malnutrition, unemployment, and environmental degradation.

Mushrooms, one of nature’s oldest and most diverse organisms, have been a part of global history for thousands of years — revered for their culinary, medicinal, and even spiritual value. At ICAR-IIHR, our efforts bridge the ancient knowledge with cutting-edge research to make mushrooms accessible, profitable, and acceptable to the Indian population.
